Celebrating Ferruccio Lamborghini's 100th Birthday

On this day in 1916, Ferruccio Lamborghini was born. He passed away in 1993 but the legacy he has left behind still impacts us today. The cars he helped create are still some of the best performing vehicle on the road today. the history of his great company, that he created way back in 1963, continues to be one of the most recognizable in the world. The company was created in 1963 in a bit of a funny way. In the 60's Lamborghini had already become a very successful man through his tractor business. He owned multiple high end cars including some Ferrari's. There is a story that floats around that one day Lamborghini became upset with the clutch in his Ferrari and drove over to Enzo Ferrari's office to show him how poor of a quality his cars were. When he arrived apparently Ferrari just waved him away because he had no time for a tractor man. Ferruccio believed that he could do anything Ferrari had done, but better. Thus one of the greatest car rivalries was formed and what came out of this rivalry was two companies trying to out do the other and create amazing cars.
